*Chapter 1*

          Zoey's Quiet Life

Once upon a time, there lived a 9-year-old girl named Zoey. She was an imaginative girl who loved reading adventure novels. Even though Zoey seemed like a strong, brave person, she was always too afraid to try new things. For example, a new food. Or a new roller coaster at the amusement park. Zoey lived in a small town, in a small city, in a small life. Zoey always wanted everything to stay the same, that's why she was always happy that she had overprotective parents. One thing that bothered her though, was her best friend, Max, who was very adventurous and was always encouraging Zoey to step out of her comfort zone. Zoey always refused. So, Max went everywhere with her, because they were best friends. Max was not allowed to force Zoey, and he didn't like going anywhere alone, so he stayed with her.

             *Chapter 2*

              The Big Dare

One windy day at school, Zoey, Max and all of their other friends sit in a circle during recess to play the dare game. It was Max's turn to be in charge of the game that day, so he picked up the arrow, gave it a spin, and it landed on Zoey. Zoey was sweating. This was something new! Max always gives BIG DARES on his turn, so Zoey hopes she wins. 'Ok, Zoey! Let's do this!' Grins Max. Zoey stands up, takes a deep breath, and goes in the middle of the circle. 8 eyes were on her, plus an extra, which was Max's, so it was 9 in total. Zoey gulped, as Max gave her wink. Then, it began. 'Three, Two, one... GO!!!!!' Yelled the 8. 'Scissors, Paper, ROCK!' Zoey and Max yelped. The truth was now revealed. Zoey had a rock. Max had a paper. 'YES!' Grinned Max. 'Ok, Zoey. I dare you to go to the Mystery Woods at night TODAY.' Everyone gasped and clapped as Max flexed. 'Are you in, Zoey? Or are you CHICKEN?' Teased Max. Zoey hesitated but feels a strange sense of excitement and curiosity about what lies beyond the trees. What will her answer be?

                *Chapter 3*

                   Into The Woods

Z oey then decides to take the dare and at night, when her parents are asleep, she sneaks out. Max, who by the way lives next to her, sees this from his window and secretly follows her to make sure she keeps safe. Zoey safely walks down into the Mystery Woods and follows a pathway. As she explores, Zoey encounters talking animals, magical plants, and strange, enchanted paths that seem to lead her even deeper into the forest. Even Max started to enjoy the enchantments and felt even more confident that she is safe there. It was quite a thing, indeed! Zoey then follows a pathway leading to the right, and discovers a...

            *Chapter 4*

          The Magical Clearing

Pond. Zoey finds a beautiful sparkly pond and a treehouse. The treehouse is high up, stuck in an ancient tree. Zoey walks in as Max quickly but quietly hides behind the tree. Zoey looks up and smiles, it was a wonderful sight indeed! Zoey looked back down and discovers a tiny butterfly in front of her. Wait, it wasn't a butterfly, it was a PIXIE! 'PIXIES! I knew they were real!' gasped Zoey. The fairy was quite friendly and explained that her name was Lumina. Lumina explains that the woods are full of magic and that only those with brave hearts can see it. Then Lumina looks dead serious....

            *Chapter 5*

            The Hidden Secret 

L umina tells Zoey about a hidden secret within the woods. 'A legendary treasure that can only be found by someone who completes a series of daring tasks.' Zoey's eyes widen. 'What are the tasks?' She asks. Lumina explains the tasks as Zoey nods. They then excitedly get ideas and guess what the treasure might be. Lumina and Zoey soon get along like two peas in a pod. Lumina trusts Zoey and with a wave of her wand, turns Zoey into a human-sized fairy. Zoey loves it! They keep discussing. Suddenly, Max jumps out of his hiding spot. He calls his little brother on his phone as he arrives, he has been there before. The two boys stand in front of the girls. Suddenly, they realize the boys are there and shut up. Lumina turns Zoey into human again. Max explains that he followed Zoey there and supports her.  Zoey, with Max’s support, decides to take on the challenge to prove she is brave and to discover the treasure.
