WHOOOSH! WHOOOSH! The sky became darker and darker as the thunder started to roll in. The bright flashes of lightning cracked through the sky. 

There was no doubt that the long awaited storm that Olivia was hearing about on the news has now arrived.

Olivia was scared but the feeling of her mother’s side pressed against hers made her feel safe. 

The lights in Olivia’s house kept flickering on and off…

Until they finally turned off. With no power to turn them back on. 

She felt fear start to pour in as she looked more into the darkness. Her mother held her hand tightly as she led her to the drawer of candles.

Olivia then felt comfort as the lights flickered throughout the room. She has never seen her living room look this pretty.

Olivia wondered how she would pass the time without a TV or internet to keep her entertained. 

She turned to her mom and said, “Mom, we’re going to be bored without power!” 

“Olivia” she sighed, “There’s plenty of things we can do without power.”

She brought her to a closet of boxes full of boardgames and playing cards. She then gathered materials of pencils, crayons, markers, and paper.
