One stormy afternoon, a little girl named Lily sat by the window, watching the rain pour down. She could see the dark clouds moving across the north sky, and she wondered if the river would rise from all the rain.

Her father was out in the forest, checking on the trees and making sure everything was okay. "I hope he doesn't get caught in the storm," Lily thought, feeling worried.

Suddenly, there was a loud fire crackling in the fireplace, and Lily’s mother called out, "Come sit by the fire, Lily. It's getting cold outside."

Lily grabbed her favorite book and sat down, reading the first chapter. She had just finished when her father came home, soaked but safe. He was glad to return from the forest, and he reported that everything was fine. "The storm may be far from over, but we are safe," he said.

That night, they all went to bed, feeling relieved that they were together, no matter how wild the storm outside had become.
