Dana the duck had a problem. Her feathers hadn't grown in yet all the way. This means that she had trouble reaching things sometimes. 

The big problem came from not wanting to ask for help from people. She often saw that the adults were busy, or talking to someone, and when that happened she got shooed away. So she learned to try and fix it herself.

One day Dana was at school playing with her friends: Freddy the Frog, Kate the Koala, and Mia the Mouse. She was having a great time until Freddy asked her to get his water bottle.

When she got to the table where Freddy's water bottle was, she saw it was way out of her reach! She couldn't even touch it when she was on her tippy-toes!

She looked over to Ms. Reed, the teacher, for help but she was busy talking to some other kids. She looked around for a stool, but she couldn't find one. 

Not sure what to do, Dana started crying. Ms. Reed noticed and ran over. She asked,

Why are you crying, Dana? Is there something I can help with?

I, I, I, c-c-cant reach the water bottle and you were busy and, and, and

Slow down, honey. Take a deep breath and tell me what the problem is so I can help you. Breathe with me, okay?
