My name is Anna Smith and today is my first day of 1st grade! 

I woke up feeling a little bit strange…

“They call it the first day jitters!”’

says mom.

“You will be okay, they will go away soon!” 

says dad.

First day jitters?!

I knew that something had to be wrong! 

That must be why I tossed and turned all night!

Or why I woke up this morning with a belly ache…

Anna, the bus is here!

I have the first day jitters! 

And right as I was about to ask my parents how I can possibly miss going to the first day of school, 

I heard my parents yell…

Didn’t they know I was sick?

Without asking questions, I hugged my mom and dad goodbye and got on the school bus.

What else could I do?

After all, dad did say that they will go away soon…
