Hello my fellow American, today I am going to tell you about the Boston Tea Party.

In 1773, The British Government passed the Tea Act, which allowed the East India Company to sell tea directly to the colonies without paying taxes.

The colonists did not like this Act, so, they decided to ignore British goods.

On December 16, 1773, Tons of imported tea was dumped in the harbor, which would tell the British that the Acts were not going to work.
Britain responded by shutting down the port of Boston because it would tremendously hurt the colonist way of life.

The Boston Tea Party started a chain reaction leading to the American Revolution. After the unfair ruling of the colonies, they wanted independence from Britain.

On September 3rd, 1783, the British signed the Treaty of Paris. The treaty established the colonies as free and separate from Great Britain and was finally recognized as a nation.
