To every child who has ever felt misunderstood because of the way they speak — your voice is beautiful, and it matters.

Hola! My name is Javier. I'm from Mexico, and I now live in the United States. Everything is very different here, especially the language. I speak Spanish, but I'm now learning English, and it's been a bit difficult, but I won't give up!

At First, It Was Hard...
When I first got here, I didn’t understand much. I was scared. I didn’t know how to talk to other kids, and everything felt new and strange. The words were hard, and I was afraid of making mistakes. But you know what? I didn’t give up! Every day, I practice more, and I’m learning new things.

The school and my friends have been a great help.

I don’t have to feel bad about speaking Spanish. It’s part of who I am, my family, and my culture. I’m very proud of my language too!
Learning English doesn’t mean I have to forget my language. It means I can learn more and do more things.
Every time something is hard, like a new word or a big test, I remember it’s a chance to learn and grow. Little by little, I’m getting better!

What I've learned...
One thing I learned is about acculturation and culture. It’s really important to learn English, but it’s also important to remember my language and my traditions. I can be part of both worlds—English and Spanish. Both are special to me, and they help me connect with different people.

Mi futuro...
I know there’s still a lot to learn, but I’m not scared anymore. Every new word I learn is a small victory. I want to keep learning English, make more friends, and share everything I love about my country. And I’ll always carry my Spanish with me. It’s who I am.

¡Gracias, amigos!
Even though it’s not always easy, I’m getting better every day. I know I will keep growing, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. Let’s keep going together!

My storia is dedicated to all brave kids learning a new language.
Even when words are hard, your heart speaks loud.
Keep going — you are not alone
