Billy was a normal ten-year-old boy who loved to draw more than anything else in the world. He had messy blonde hair that always fell in his eyes. Every day after school, he would walk home along Oak Street, dreaming up new things to draw when he got home.
One cloudy Tuesday afternoon, something weird caught his eye. There, stuck between two sidewalk cracks, was a strange tile that gave off a soft yellow glow. Billy bent down to look at it closer, and when he did, he heard a quiet humming sound. The closer he got, the louder the humming became. On the tile was a picture of a simple pencil.
"That's so cool!" he whispered to himself. He picked up the tile and stuffed it in his backpack.
The next morning, Billy woke up early to look at his special tile again. But when he pulled it out, he gasped. The pencil that had been drawn on the tile wasn't just a picture anymore, it had turned into a real pencil! It looked just like a regular yellow pencil with a pink eraser on top.
"Wow! This looks really cool," Billy thought as he turned it around in his hands. "I wonder if I can draw with it?"
He grabbed some paper from his desk and started to draw. At first, everything seemed normal. Billy drew some silly monsters with sharp teeth and crazy eyes, just having fun like he always did. But then something super weird happened. The monsters he drew started wiggling on the paper, and then - POP! - they jumped right off the page!
"What is happening?" Billy yelled as the monsters zoomed around his room like tiny tornadoes before bursting through his bedroom door.
Billy ran after them, his heart pounding. The monsters were running wild through the neighborhood! One of them scared Mrs. Johnson so bad she dropped her grocery bags. Another one chased Mr. Peterson's cat up a tree. These weren't the fun, friendly monsters Billy had tried to draw - they were mean and causing trouble everywhere!
"What have I done?" Billy worried, watching as people ran away screaming. "That tile must have been magical or something!"
He had to think fast. The monsters were getting bigger and meaner by the minute. First, he tried throwing water at them, but they just shook it off. Then he tried catching them in a net, but they were too quick. Nothing was working!
