On the way to school Monday morning, Adam talked to his mom about how marvelous he was going to be on the mound at this weekends big game. 

"I'm going to throw faster than the Flash!!! It's be a no hitter and we will win, all because of me!" 

"I'm excited to see you pitch Adam, I'm sure you'll do great!......"

"But please remember; There is no I in team!!" said mom with a chuckle. 

On Tuesday, Adam told mom, "I will be terrific at third base!"

"I am going to snag line drives!"

"I am going to run down players stealing home!"

"I am going to make tags and make all of the outs!" 

"I'm excited to see your team dominate on defense Adam, but please remember......

There is no I in team!!" mom said with an edge. 

On Wednesday Adam dreamed out loud about the wonders of a walk-off in this weekends big game. 

"On my last at bat, I will be best. When the ball makes it to my wheelhouse....WACK!! An out of the park walk-off run. I WIN!!! WOO HOO!!!" Adam beamed with excitement

"Adam, I love the idea, please be a beast in the box, but you have to remember...."

"There is no I in team!" mom repeated again.

On Thursday Adam talked about his mighty powerful throws.

"I have a cannon arm! From behind the plate to center field, any ball I throw will sail, no runner will prevail!" said Adam with pride!

"Adam it is true you've got a bionic arm, but I need you to remember..."

"There is no I in team." said mom with a sigh. 

Finally by Friday, the day before the big game.....

The car engine was humming. The radio was playing. Adam was quiet. Mom was quiet. Tomorrow will be here soon, it's almost time for the big game.

Today is the day! Both teams are ready for battle. They have put in the practice and all brought their skills. 

With the smell of fresh cut grass, and dirt in the air. The coach says, "Boys take the field. Adam you're our Ace, do your best and don't let them on base!"
