Background

Williams was born in Saginaw, Michigan, to Oracene Price and Richard Williams. She began playing tennis at the age of four, following a move to Compton, California.

Family life

Serena comes from a large family, with at least 12 siblings/half siblings.  Being the youngest of her 5 half sisters that she grew up alongside of.

Education

Graduated from Driftwood Academy in Lake Park, Florida in 1999.

Graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Business/Health.
