There once was a student called Klara, who dreamt of studying abroad.
She was adventurous, open-minded and eager to explore.

She studied English and German at the pedagogical faculty,
learning Spanish on Duolingo on the tram without difficulty.
She looked for a new challenge to face, somewhere out of her comfort space.

Unfortunately, an accident complicated her plans -
an operation made her question the chance.
She decided not to apply
and wait until she feels healthy and fine.

Slowly but surely she healed,
looking for an alternative to satisfy her need.
A practical stay - that's the way to go!
A new objective she gained to focus on.

She found an advertisement on Erasmus-intern online
of a cool teacher called Montse - crazy and divine!
They talked in excitement and agreed,
that Klara comes to Lleida and the two shall meet!

Klara left her apartment, now sad for her bf and dog.
Unsure what to pack with a bit of brain fog.

This Montse, an angel, arranged
that Klara stays with a Spanish family for a little language exchange.

On a video call they met and talked,
"what a wonderful family!" Klara thought.
She didn't have to worry to pay the rent
and happily explore or go out with a friend!

Suitcase packed, last kiss and goodbye
and off Klara was in the sky!
Feeling excited, ready to start
a new chapter in life, could it be so hard?

Arriving to Barcelona, sleeping by friends,
a full day in the city she happily spends.
In the evening she travels with locals by car
direction Lleida, feeling funny and bizarre.

She meets her host family - lovely folk.
However, only in Spanish they can talk.
They show her the room, feed her and smile:
"we are gonna have a wonderful time!"

Montse and Klara together teach
in pursuit of the language barrier breach.
English and German, Spanish and Czech,
Klara suffers a great brain lag.

The cook of the house - my dear Spanish father
prepared a big speciality, a true Catalan marble!
Caracoles he proudly presents
which I actually enjoyed with no real pretends!

I teach from Tuesday to Friday, 12 hours a week.
English and German, the right method I seek.
The students are nice, hard-working and fun,
I feel hopeful in the long run!

Springtime in Lleida is a festival of pink,
so I baked a štrúdl for the teachers meeting.
I met the staff and tasted their food,
starting to feel like one of the hood.

The afternoons are tough, I have to work hard
to complete my ZČU homework, to not fall behind.
In a café I sit, task after task,
assignments, emails, deadlines, lesson preparation..
- simply multitask.

Rewards are the evenings spent with new friends,
taking part in English and German meetings,
conversing over Estrella Galicia without ends.
