Of course airplanes are cool. Jet fighters, cargo
planes, L-1011 TriStars, they're all cool. But do you
know what the first airplane looks like?
Yep. That's the first airplane. Doesn't look that
cool compared to now. Looks like this book is
going to live up to it's name. Because it's going to
show you the History of Planes.

Everyone knows Wilbur and Orville
Wright. If you don't, then you will soon.
They were known as the Wright Brothers.
Born during the 1800's, the Wright Brothers
made the first airplane. It wasn't easy. They
tried many times, and they finally exceeded.
But it was more like a glider.

This invention changed the world. As time
go on, the airplane began to improve. It began
to have engines. It began to have landing
gears. It also began to have, well, you get the
idea. And by the time World War I started, the
airplane improved so much, that it's hard to
believe that it once started as an engine-less
glider. In fact, it was a main weapon during
World War I.

After World War I, people decided to use
airplanes for other things beside military. That's
how things like Air Mail and Eastern AirLines
started. So if you got a letter from China, then it
was probally delivered by planes.

No matter what, the
airplane will always
improve. When World War
II started, they used
around four kinds of
airplanes. It was a big
difference since they used
only one kind during World
War I. They have cockpits,
better weapons, and the
rest, you can find out for
yourself.

After that, airplanes just keep
getting bigger and better. Then
they build other things besides
airplanes. They build helicopters,
jets, blimps, and some other stuff.
As time get closer to modern time,
the airplanes becomes more
modern.

Well this is it. We finally reached
2014. Today, planes are looking
cooler than ever. It also looks
like that the prices are rising just
to get a seat on a passenger
plane. Now I want you to sit in
silence and to acknowledge the
awesomeness of planes.

I am sorry to say folks but this is
