Discussion # 3

My story
During the COVID-19 pandemic, my life as a student took a 180-degree turn. I went from traditional (attend in-person classes) to taking classes through virtual platforms, and Zoom became my new best friend. So I decided to learn French with an online course at the Alliance Française in my country. The course was self-paced and included video lessons and interactive exercises. At first it was difficult for me to adapt to this new system, because I was used to the old way of attending face-to-face classes and using physical books, paper and pencil. I remember that one day we had the opportunity to talk to a native French speaker, but because I had a hard time getting used to this method at that time my French was not very good.
At that moment I felt that this new method was simply not right for me and it made me feel like I had wasted my time. Now that I studied this module I realized that MOOCs have been around for many years.
In my case, it took me several weeks to adapt to this new learning method, but in the end I managed to finish the course and although at times it was exhausting and at the same time it was a challenge because you need to demand from yourself.
