Adventure at Camp Dora
Tehani, Arianne, Emily, my mother and I embarked on an adventure to Camp Dora in the county of Berbice at 5:00. The journey was treacherous. We travelled by car most of the way and at a dirt road we parked the car and travelled on foot. We were quite exhausted by the time we arrived. A cloud of bats flitted around us as we helped to set up the campsite.
My mother collected firewood as Tehani and Emily erected the tents. Arianne and I built the fire when my mum returned.
The fire was crackling with meat Kebabs on top, the tents were up and the games were ready. We watched in awe as the sun showcased different beautiful hues as it set. We sat and enjoyed it and then decided we would do an all nighter.
A velvet of black covered the sky as I grabbed a bag of marshmallows and raced towards the fire. We collected sticks to roast the marshmallows and while they were roasting, we told scary tales. Midway through my tale I noticed that Tehani's seat was vacant.
I continued my story saying," I smell a rat." I flung my face backwards and Tehani, just about to touch my luscious curls, but rather let out a sharp piercing shriek as she ran. Her hair got tangled in some branches and she continue shrieking as loud as a hyena's cry. She didnt stop until Arriane told her it was just branches. She then sat down as I continued my story smiling.
When my story was concluded the marshmallows and the kebabs were roated. They were scrumptious! We lay on the cool grass and played, I spy with the clouds in the sky. We saw hearts, donkeys and motorcylce shaped clouds in the sky.
Emily shouted, 'Time for board games , we played checkers and touble. We then switched to hide and seek .This was much fun because only the hider could have used torch light so finding each other was lots of fun under the candle lit sky.
Soon morning came and all of us were now tired and wanted to sleep. Mum encouraged us to pack and get ready and none of us wanted to say goodbye to camp Dora.
We shared an unforgettable experience and can't wait to do it again.
The Sleeping Pheasants
It was a Friday afternoon as my father and I were thinking of a new plan to catch pheasants. I have a brilliant idea! I cried out, 'For goodness's sake why don't we use sleeping pills!. Quick as a lightening he grabbed the sleeping pill container and poured its contents on the table. we counted 1, 2, 3,4, 5..39 and 40.
A quick calculation in my head and I realized that a pheasant would only need a 1/4 of a pill to fall into a sleep. I told my plans to my father. To prepare he got a tub of water while I got one hundred and sixty raisins (160) They were 40 in each packet so I collected 4. We tipped the raisins into the water and while we were waiting for them to soak, we ground the sleeping pills into powder. I got the needle and knife ready for the surgery of the raisins.
My father placed a slit in the raisins as I filled them with the powder and using the needle and thread sewed them up. Soon all 160 raisins were finished . We scattered them in the woods and went about our chores.
As the sun set and the moon began to rise,I looked outside and I could not believe my eyes . I excitedly ran to get my dad, who was already standing on the deck of our house watching as the pheasants fall from the sky and trees . I raced to the outside and started collecting and packing with my dad, we collected one hundred and fifty in total.
My dad took their head offs and packed them into our large deep freezer. The next day we had one for lunch which we clean and roasted. It was scrumptious!!!!!!!
Now readers you may be wondering why we caught and killed the pheasants, We needed them becuase they are our primary source of protein and iron during the wet season. Our community depend on it during this time. We are not killing them for fun we need them to survive.
Christmas and what it means to me
Christmas ! All children know that name, wether poor or rich, young or old. It is a time of gathering of families, festivities, christmas decorations and so much more.
For me there is nothing more special than celebrating Jesus' birth and gathering with my extended family. I also look forward to the unwrapping of gifts and the sound of joyous carols in the atmosphere. I love seeing the Christmas decorations on homes.
I look forward to the time my family spends rejoicing the birth of Jesus by reading bible texts related to Jesus birth and praying.
I have formed many memories of Christmas as I have grown. One of my favorite memories is waking up to the smell of pepperpot and knowing I will be able to soak my mother's freshly baked bread in the sauce.
Do you have cherished memories ?
The Bully
Hi, I'm Felicia and I live in Barima Waini. I wake early each and walk three hours to school. My school days are generally the same each day except for these particular three days, I will tell you about.
I woke promptly at 6:00am on Monday morning and did all the usual things showered, dress, packed and ate my bowl of oat meal and set off to my three hour journey.
At Cladsville School, I entered the classroom and prepared for my lesson at 9:30 class started and a break at 12:00 for lunch.
As I started to eat Roger came up and said, 'Hand up your money' Now Roger was the most fierce bully in school, so as not start a fight I reluctantly gave my money to him. He said, 'Good choice', then turned to pick on somebody else. For the rest of the day he didnt bother me . On the following day, Tuesday, he told me to give him my money . I did but this time as silent as a mouse I crept to the staff room and knocked. I heard my teacher voice saying to me come in.
Determinedly, I entered and told my teacher about Roger and suggested, that she could pop out and catch Roger doing it the next day.
Wednesday was the next day, it was mostly the same but miss popped out of nowhere and caught Roger in the act of taking money. She took him outside and had a long talk with him.
Before we started class miss said, 'Roger has something to say.' Roger abruptly stood up and said, 'I'm sorry for taking your monies and I will give it back to you now.' He then distrubuted the monies he had taken from everyone during the week.
It was a positive end to bad behaviour.

Dear Mum, I am writing with wishes of what I would like to do when I excel at National Grade Six Exams . I would like to go on a vacation where there is either snorkeling and food possible to Malta the island of Comino. Or to view art museums and snow in Argentina, Buenos Aires.
I have these in mind because I have never seen snow and I would love to go snorkeling again.
There are many other things I would like to do like a sleepover with Halo, Liam or Rihanna , read my books or do arts and crafts.
I would like if you would consider purchasing a VR . This I would prefer if you cannot afford the other suggestions. It is your decision. I hope that you can repsond quickly as I am looking forward to what you decide.
Yours Truly

The Lost $4000
The sun was a golden buttercup in the bright blue sky. As the breeze gracefully danced across the sky, I sat reading one of my Harry Potter books on the comfy chairs on my vernada. Suddenly a shout shout filled my ears. 'Sydonella please come quickly!' my mother shouted. My eyes are golden brown eyes and I have light brown complexion while my mum had creek brown eyes and dark brown skin. "Sydonella, please buy two pounds of cabbage from the local market, please do not lose the monies. If you see your friends kindly do not stop and play.'
In a hurry to get back to my book I raced out the house skipping two steps at a time. I got tired so I reduced my skip to a walk . I spotted my friends playing freeze tag at the park.
They spotted me and called me to play. Ignoring my mum's words I went to play. After about ten minutes I said goodbye to my friends and ran to the market. There I asked Marcia the cabbage vendor for a pound of cabbage. She said, 'Two thousand dollars please.' I searched my pockets but I couldn't find the money. Ashamed I told Marica never mind and ran to the park to check.
