Every day, Bawang Putih worked hard - cooking, cleaning, and washing clothes while Bawang Merah just played and rested. Though treated badly, Bawang Putih never complained

One day, there lived a young girl named Bawang Putih. After her mother and father passed away, she had to live with her cruel stepmother and spoiled stepsister, Bawang Merah

One day while washing clothes at the river, the current swept away her mother's special scarf. Bawang Putih chased after it until she met an old woman.

Bawang Putih approached the old woman and asked, " Did you see any scraf floating in this river? " 

"I have your scarf," said the woman, "but first, could you help me with some housework?"

Bawang Putih, being kind and helpful, agreed to assist the old woman. She cleaned the house and cooked food with care. When she finished, the woman showed her two pumpkins - one big, one small.

The old woman was grateful for Bawang Putih help and hard work, before Bawang Putih left, the old woman said, " Before you go, I want to give you pumpkin for your kindness. Please pick one " 

One impressively large while the other one quite small. Bawang Putih was not greedy, so she chose the small one and headed home.
