Throughout the duration of this course I have read many chapters in the textbook, "Developing and Administering an Early Childhood Education Program" by Shauna Adams. However, one chapter really stood out to me and I have saved some strategies that I learned from it to use in the future. This chapter was chapter 12 which focused on Mental Health.

Hi, I'm Darsele and I have been studying administration in a childhood education program. Chapter 12 of our textbook really stood out to me because it was about mental health for both the students and the staff in a childhood care program.

Being in a school can get very stressful for the students and the teachers. It is important that everyone has some strategies that help them remain calm and handle their stress. This chapter discusses the importance of mental health and provides some coping strategies to try out.
Before you can improve your mental health you have to understand what that is. So let's take a walk and I'll tell you about what mental health is and how to improve it.

While reading chapter 12 of my textbook I learned that Mental Health is a state where a person can acknowledge their abilities, adapt and cope with stress, accomplish goals and contribute to those around them. Isn't that interesting.

To help improve my mental health, this chapter taught me some breathing strategies that really help to keep me calm and relieve any stress I may be feeling.

Another thing that helps my mental health is spending time outside like I am right now. Another thing that the chapter taught me was to focus on some of the sounds around me like the wind blowing to help calm my mind.

This chapter taught me a lot about how to self regulate and how important it is to focus on your mental health so you can also help others with their mental health.

I'm also a teacher so the mental health information and coping skills that I learned from chapter 12 help me calm my students down when they are feeling a lot of emotions.
