hi! My name is Jayla. I am a Pharaoh Hound. Playing fetch right now with my owner; their stick has gone some ways, down into the trees. There are a lot of sticks, but I can't find my owner's. One stick- I see the heat of my owner's hand on it. Pick it up; don't hesitate. I need to bring this back to my lovely owner.

Good girl, Jayla! You deserve a treat!

THE WALK HOME WAS VERY PRETTY. THE LEAVES CRUNCHED IN MY PAWS; THE TREES WAVED IN THE WIND.

When my owner and I came home for the night, a storm formed. When she left me in my cage, I started whining. The storm was very loud: the rumbles, then the lightning strikes. It hurt my ears. I started to spin, scratching at the bars of my cage. I howled, barked. My owner did not answer. She would normally come get me and tell me I'm safe. suddenly i hear a thud, then everything went black.

I was scared; I thought I was dead.

and then...

I woke up; all the lights were off. The house was silent. I heard something fall in the living room. I saw the door open in front of me; a gust of wind blew into my face. I saw a small human; his face was scared. He opened my cage, and I ran out."Hey!" the small boy said. " Come back!" he added. 

You'd think I'm a nice dog, and yes, I am! Going into that kids' care would put me in grave danger. I don't think there is anything offensive about humans, but them buying...cats! Don't even make me start! Pharaoh hounds are very particular, especially me. I like a certain type of stick in my mouth, the right shape and the right feel. I like every chew toy soft, not rubbery; I like chewing on plushies and tearing them up. I like a lot of space to run and nobody at the dog park! Maybe I was seeing a cat there! Maybe that was why I was getting mad. And I'getting mad already!
