Once upon a time, a little yellow bird 

was born. But he wasn't a normal 

bird, because Birdie was missing a 

part of his right wing. He had never 

flown because he thought he could 

not do it, after all he was missing a 

wing. It was so sad birdie had never 

left his nest because of this. Besides, 

he had never met other birds 

because he was afraid of what they 

would say or think. 

One day when all the other birds 

were playing hide and seek, one flew 

all the way up to where Birdie lived. 

Birdie's mamma had left, and he had 

been living on his own for a while 

now. So he tried to hide, as he 

always did, but this time it did no 

good. Another bird found Birdie. 

"Hello" said the new bird. 

"Who are you?" asked birdie. 

"I'm Bobby the bird, and those down 

there are my friends" he said 

pointing to the ground at all the 

other birds. "Why don't you come 

down and play with us?"

"No, I can't" answered Birdie. "I 

might die if I do."

"Why would you die?" asked Bobby the bird. 

"Well, I am missing one of wings" said poor little 

Birdie all ashamed. 

"Well then how do you get your food?"

"I just eat whatever lands on my nest. I am a 

vegetarian bird."

"Wow, that must be so cool. But don't you want 

to be able to SWOOP down upon preys and get 

your own food."

"I guess that would be nice" Birdie did think it was a 

food idea. "But that could never happen I can't grow 

a wing."

"Well my friends and I have a shop down there. We 

can make you a new wing with metal." Bobby 

reassured.

"Okay! Let's go!" said Birdie and was carried down 

by Bobbie. 

A few hours later, birdie had a brand new wing made 

by his new friends.
