Bethany Hamilton loved to surf.

One day when she was surfing with her 

friends, she got attacked by a shark.

Bethany lost her arm and was in the hospital 

for a long time. 

Bethany's family and friends helped her 

through it all. They told her jokes and tried to 

make her laugh. 

Bethany really wanted to surf again, but she 

was told she couldn't. But, Bethany never gave 

up and she could surf again!

Bethany's story got around and became world 

wide. She got interviewed by a lot of TV shows 

and magazines.
