This is Tara. Her hair is always tangled.

She loves her tangles, but she loves adventures, too. A 

big trip into the city to the Wildlife Center to visit her 

new owl friend was the perfect idea.

The city is a big place, and not a place she went to 

very often. She was excited for her day.

She made sure to bring along her compass, but 

couldn't find it anywhere, until she found it all 

tangled up in her hair!

Her mom asked her to finish the cinnamon toast   she 

was eating before heading out, but found it all tangled 

up in her hair. What a tangled mess. 

Her dad asked her to finish all of her bok choy before 

leaving to the big city, but she accidentally got that 

stuck in her hair, too. Tara's hair was a tangled mess!

Tara waited for the city bus. When it arrived, she sat 

next to a young boy. He had a cute little green 

grasshopper in his hand, but it escaped, and jumped 

into her hair. The grasshopper was stuck in the 

tangled mess!

She made it to the big city, but would have to walk 

many unknown city streets just to find the wildlife 

center. She made sure she had her compass. Luckily it 

didn't get stuck in her tangled mess with the 

grasshopper.

She saw so many neat and interesting things on her 

walk. A man playing a xylophone, a lady selling 

bowling pins , a hot dog vendor, an artist, and a 

superhero.

Her day was going well, when all of a sudden 

something was stuck in her hair. It wasn’t a compass. 

It wasn’t cinnamon toast, it wasn't bok choy, and it 

wasn’t even another grasshopper!
