It was the day of Lellow the Lion's sleepover 

party, Ellie the elephant, Hopey the 

hippopotamus, Mo the monkey and Princess 

Leah Grace are all invited. They had 

permission to go to the party.    

   The friends were asked beforehand if they 

would like to take part in a pillow fight. They 

all said yes. 

They were excited, about seeing Lellow, as 

they had not seen him for a long time. 

They could not stop talking about the games 

they would play and how much fun they 

would have. 

   When the friends arrived at the house, they were greeted by Lellow’s mum. She showed them into the kitchen, Lellow was at the table eating an enormous bun. Lellow hugged his friends and thanked them for coming to his party.

      They all sat down at the table for dinner. Lellow had curry goat and rice,  and Ellie, Mo, Hopey and Princess Leah had vegetable meals.   

 Next, the five friends had some fruit and buns, with lemonade to drink. For dessert, they had jelly and ice cream. 

  After eating and drinking, they played hide and seek, screaming and shouting.  

10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1, ready or not, I’m coming to find you! 

Shouted Lellow with excitement. They soon got fed up with the game.  

 Next, they took turns to play I Spy. "I want to be the spy" said 

Mo. 

    But, before anyone could object to him, he 

shouted. "I spy with my little eyes, something 

that is yellow."   Mo looked at the object as the colour was announced; that was a dead giveaway.  His friends laughed and laughed. 

Lellow the Lion guessed the correct object. The 

others took turns being the spy, and they took 

turns to guess the objects. 

   When they finished playing ‘I Spy.’ They went back to the 

kitchen for a drink of lemonade and a bun each.  Lellow suggested they play pillow fights.  He took his friends into his bedroom, they took turns telling stories about what 

they have been doing at school that day.  They also talked  

about the mysterious, spooky tree.  

After the storytelling the friends started to play pillow fights, they had big pillows that they hide behind to hide. 

   Lellow’s mum shouted,   "Be careful of the 

zips on the pillows, and make sure you don’t 

stuff anything hard in the pillows, like a..." She hesitated.  She rushed back and removed the zip covers from the pillows. Watch those pillows; don't hurt you.” she said. 

    The five friends sat on the beds, Princess 

Leah laid her pillow on her lap and started to play with it. She waited for a slight pause in the conversation before she dropped her pillow on the bed and stood up and stretched.  She made sure everybody paid attention to her.

   After Princess Leah was done stretching and standing, she picked up her pillow.

    While looking at her friends, she waited for two  seconds, took a deep breath, and shouted, "PILLOW FIGHT!" She picked up her pillow and bopped Lellow on the head with it.   "Ouch!" said Lellow with an expression of surprise, I was not ready," he said.

Mo and Ellie laughed.  

Hopey, Mo, Ellie, and Lellow grabbed the other pillows and joined the pillow fight. 

    They stopped the pillow fight when everybody was worn out. They went to the kitchen to cool down, get another drink, and finish the rest of the food and drinks on the table. 

 After they had finished eating, they went to the bathroom, took turns brushing their teeth, and got ready for bed. They remained exhausted and went to bed without changing into their pajamas. 

   The friends heard a loud bang outside in the middle of the night, followed by a howling noise and a clock striking. 

A tree branch scraped the window as if someone or something wanted to enter the room. 

 The five friends got out of bed and looked 

outside the window, it was still dark. Lellow, the lion, had an idea; he crept into a cupboard to get a rope and a torch.  Lellow sharpened his claws in case of danger. 

     The five friends got ready to go 

outside to investigate.   

They shadowed Lellow going 

down the stairs. They all took deep breaths before Lellow opened the front door.  When they got outside, they ran and ran. 

When they got tired, they stopped 

running and started to walk. 

Mo the monkey put his head down 

and bumped into something hard 

and bumpy; he looked up and 

shouted, "THE SPOOKY TREE!"

 Lellow, Hopey, Princess Leah and 

Ellie looked at Mo before staring at the monstrous tree in front of them. 

 The tree appeared to reach 

up to the sky and through the 

clouds.  

The branches looked like 

fingers as if to grab you. 

The leaves looked like they had been chewed by giant bookworms. 

The tree had steps that looked like they would collapse at any minute.

The stairs lead up to a huge 

platform that was made of wood. 

It was good that Lellow was 

brave, he went around the tree to the stairs, and Ellie the elephant shouted, "Be careful!"

    Lellow put one foot on the 

staircase and started to climb the tree.  

The stairs started to crack, and he climbed further up, but he did not make it; the stairs fell, and Lellow was covered with wood. 

   The friends waited for Lellow to stand 

up on his feet, they couldn't help him, 

because they ran away as fast as their 

legs would carry them. 

As Lellow got up, he turned around 

and saw a vast, ugly monster; the monster had one bulging eye. 

   He had long fur that looked like a coat. "RUN!" Shouted Lellow. 

 Lellow ran with all his might until he heard an irritating sound above the tree.
