Once upon a time there was an ugly dog called
Bruce. Bruce was thinking about eating some
delicious food because he was starving.
He then stole a piece of fat, juicy meat from the
local butcher. Bruce went out to the jetty with his
piece of meat. He looked down at the water and he
saw an ugly dog staring back at him.

Bruce growled at the water to scare the dog off. He
wanted to steal the meat that was in the dog’s
mouth. In reality it wasn't really another dog, it
was his reflection. The piece of meat fell out of
Bruce’s mouth into the dirty, muddy water and
disappeared. Bruce was upset and he was left
hungry.
The moral of the story is...Don’t be greedy!
By Hugo Traino

There once was a village boy dressed in farming clothes. The boy
was a cheeky boy that loved playing tricks on the villagers. The
villagers were working people that toiled the land. One day the
boy was bored. He wanted to play a trick on the villagers by
crying out “Wolf! Wolf!” from the top of a hill. The village people
got out their weapons and ran to the top of the hill to help the
boy and his sheep. The cheeky boy was laughing because there
was no wolf. The three villagers walked away angrily. The boy
enjoyed crying wolf because he thought it was funny. Each time
he did that the villagers kept running up to him with weapons.
One day there was a real wolf. The boy cried out “Wolf! Wolf!”.
The villagers thought it was a joke and did not believe him. The
wolf ate the sheep and the boy was attacked. The wounded boy
cried to the villagers “Why didn't you help me?” The villagers
said “We didn't believe you because you cried out "wolf" too
many times”.
The moral of the story is... Nobody believes a liar even when they
are telling the truth.

Once upon a time there was a mouse. The mouse was white and
had blood shot eyes and a cut on his belly. The mouse was a
trickster. He went into a cave in a forest, in the dead of night. He
saw a lion in there fast asleep. The lion’s mane was black and he
had scars across his eyelids. He was evil and thought he was
stronger than anyone else.
The mouse liked the lion’s mane and the mouse started to play with
it. The lion roared “Grrrrr”. The mouse begged for mercy.
The mouse offered to repay the favour if the lion let him go.

The lion let the mouse go. A few days later the lion walked
into a trap and cried out for help. The mouse heard the
lion’s cry. The mouse quickly ran to the lion’s assistance and
saw that the lion was trapped under a thick net. The mouse
bit through the rope to free the lion from the trap. The lion
was free.
The moral of the story is... Never underestimate anyone big
or small.

The Ant and the Dove
Once upon a time there was a black ant and a white dove. The ant fell
into the lake. The ant could not swim and started drowning.
There was a white dove flying up in the blue sky. The dove saw the ant
drowning and decided to help the ant. The dove picked up a twig that
was on the water’s edge. The dove dropped it into the water next to the
ant. The ant climbed onto the twig and was washed onto dry land. The
ant was grateful and said “Thanks a lot dove”. The dove flew off and
said “No worries ant”.

A few days later the ant saw a hunter aiming a bow and arrow at the
very same dove. The ant bit the hunter’s leg. The hunter went “Ouch”
and he missed the dove. So the dove flew off and as he did he turned
around and said “Thanks ant”.

The birds and the beasts were having a battle in a clearing,
on a hill, in the forest. The bats did not know which side to
choose. It looked like the beasts were winning, so the bat
decided on joining the beasts.
A brave and powerful eagle was the leader of the birds. He
planned another attack on the beasts. The birds then started
to win the battle. The sly and sneaky bat tried to switch sides
again and join the birds, but the birds said "No, go away you
cowardly bat".
The embarrassed bat flew away and hid in the caves and the
trees. Only at night time would the bat come out and look for
food.
The moral of the story is...If you have a good friend don't
choose another person over them.

There was once a farmer who owned a dog and a donkey. He
led the animals to the field to eat but instead the farmer
fell asleep under a tree.
Meanwhile, the donkey had a basket of food around his neck.
The dog was starving. He asked the donkey "Please can you
bend down so I can eat some of your food from the basket"
but the donkey said "No, wait until the farmer wakes up, then
he will feed you".
Suddenly, a wolf jumped out from behind a tree and attacked
the selfish donkey. The donkey yelled to the dog for help. The
dog replied "No, wait until the farmer wakes up, then he will
save you".
The moral of the story is... Help others or they will not help
you back.
