Jeff the Uncontrollable Large Mouth Bass
Jeff the Uncontrollable Large Mouth Bass lived in a fresh water lake under sunken tree roots, which have fallen in
the lake. At the bottom of the lake, by the big root, Jeff and his big family lived in a small house. This lake is
located in northern Alabama. Jeff weighed fifteen pounds and was dark colored with greenish scales. He blends in
with his environment.
Jeff went to school at Lakedale Elementary. The school year was drawing near and Jeff was excited. Mrs. Roberts,
the alligator, was his teacher. On Monday, the first day of school Jeff used wonderful self-control. However on
Tuesday he started to loose it. He began hitting his friends for some reason. Mrs. Roberts caught him in the act.
Mrs. Roberts sent Jeff to see Mrs. Cornelius the Crab. She was the principal of Lakedale Elementary. She spoke
with Jeff a little and asked him to use his self-control. Jeff went back to class and on his way he tripped Steven the
Small Mouth Bass. Steven is Jeff’s big brother. On Wednesday he talked back to Mrs. Hayes the Catfish. He got
suspended for three days. On Thursday Jeff ran in the hall and tore students’ work off the wall. He got detention
twice. On Friday he does a little bit of everything. He was OUT OF CONTROL!!!!
The next week Steven said, “This has got to stop!” Then Steven told Jeff he was going to teach him how to use
self-control. Steven gave Jeff two lucky coins and said, “These coins have magical powers. They give you self-
control every time you jingle them together.” Steven exclaimed, “Every time you feel out of control jingle the coins
together in your pocket and you will gain self-control.” Jeff said, “Okay I will try it.”
Jeff was standing in line and thought he would push Jeremy. Then he thought to himself, jingle the coins and Jeff did
not hit Jeremy. Jeff continued to jingle his coins every time he felt out of control.
Several days passed and Jeff continued to use the magical coins. His friends and teachers noticed he was using
good self-control. Finally, Jeff went to Steven and said, "These magic coins are fantastic." Then Steven said, "They
are not magic. You have learned self-control."

Katie the Dishonest Monarch Butterfly
Katie the Monarch Butterfly, who was five years old, was a cute, fancy butterfly.
She thought she was so fancy because all she liked was clothes, shoes and to dress-up
fancy. She wore a pink shirt, a fancy blue jean skirt, red shiny shoes, and her white fancy glasses. She lived in
Alabama near a lake. On her wings were orange and black veins with a border of two rows of tiny white spots. She ate
some yummy leaves with a glass of nectar juice. Next, she was flying to school and it was 10 miles away. When she
got to class she met Josue and she sat right beside him. Katie told Josue I did not do my homework because I was
playing dress-up with Rosa the butterfly. The teacher, Mrs. Roberts the dragonfly, asked the students to turn in their
homework. Mrs. Roberts called Katie to her desk and asked her for her homework. Katie said, “I left it at home. I will
bring it tomorrow.” she said sadly. Katie flew back to her seat. Josue told Katie that it is not good to lie. When they
went back to their seat they started on a project and Mrs. Roberts told Josue that Katie was his partner. The project
was about fossils. Before, they started on their project they took a math test. On the test Josue made an 85 and Katie
made an 85.The teacher called both students to her desk and discussed why their papers were the same. Josue said
Katie copied off my paper. When Mrs. Roberts asked Katie if she studied she lied to Mrs. Roberts and said she studied.
Mrs. Roberts gave Josue and Katie the test again. Josue made an 85 and Katie 60. Katie Monarch the butterfly had to
go to Mr. Maxx on Thursday because of her lying. He would help her to learn how to be honest. If she would not tell
anymore lies he would let her put on a fashion show. Katie woke up and got dressed with a red shiny shirt and blue
jeans with red shiny shoes. Mr. Maxx flew in to see Katie Monarch the butterfly on Friday, so he could help her with her
problem. Mr. Maxx told Katie why it is important not to lie. Katie was starting to understand why it was important not to
lie. Then she went to lunch with her friends and ate worms and had a tall glass of nectar juice. She had a wonderful
conversation with her friends and she did not tell any lies.
The following Monday Mr. Maxx and Katie had a discussion about her telling the truth. Mr. Maxx was very proud of
Katie.
The following Wednesday Katie put on a fabulous fashion show with all her friends. The teacher and her family were
extremely surprised of Katie’s talent and they were also proud of her for not lying anymore.

Luke Gets In Trouble
One sunny day, there lived a Red Bellied Turtle named Luke. He lived on the sandy shore
in Mobile Bay of Alabama. He swims in fresh water mixed with salt water. Luke eats snails
and juicy green plants for lunch. Instead of eating all of it he threw his food to somebody
else which started a huge food fight. When school finished he hit Jonathan the Box Turtle
while they were creeping home. He also yelled bad words to his friend Linus the Cray Fish.
The next day Jonathan and Linus went to tell the teacher what Luke had done to him
yesterday on the way home from school. Luke hit Jonathan and Linus while the teacher
was talking to Lilly the lizard. The teacher, Mrs. Roberts the angle fish, caught Luke hitting
his classmates. The teacher spoke with Luke about not being kind to his friends. Then,
Mrs. Roberts let all of
her classmates talk to Luke the turtle about being kind. They did kind things to Luke all
day. Luke said he was sorry to Jonathan and Linus about what he did. They accepted his
apology. Finally, Luke learned his lesson to not hit people or say bad words.

Junior Swallowtail Finds his Confidence
One day, Junior the Swallowtail Butterfly was fluttering in the field. Then
suddenly, out of the field a tall, mean looking man named John, showed up with
blue jeans and a red shirt on. He captured Junior with a huge butterfly net. Next,
he took Junior to his house in the fields of Alabama. Then, Lizard the Mean saw
Junior outside John’s house. Lizard the Mean was looking for Junior outside
John’s house. Junior was talking to himself in the big butterfly cage. He said, “I
have no confidence. I’m never getting out of this cage.” Lizard the Mean showed
up to scare Junior. Junior got really scared when he saw Lizard. Lizard said, “Do
you have enough confidence to squeeze through the bars and if you don’t I will
eat you up? Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!" exclaimed Lizard the Mean. Junior took a
moment to think. Then finally, he found his confidence. He squeezed himself
through the bars and went flying free. He went home and told his parents what
happened.
