The Toy Shoppe was Blackpool, England's oldest toy
store. For years, British children would flock to the store
to find a world of wonder. They had everything a little
boy or girl could ever want.

For years, Ollie and his wife Matilda would build the
toys themselves. While the toys were not perfect,
they were made with such love and care that they
became incredibly popular.

Soon more and more big toy stores were opening
up and The Toy Shoppe couldn't compete. They
didn't have the money or staff to keep up with
these giant new stores. People began going to
"Britain's Best Toys" chain of stores instead.

Things did not look good for The Toy
Shoppe. Families didn't visit anymore
like they used to. It like as though 30
happy years of toy making were
coming to an end.

Ollie and Matilda put so much time and care into
creating their toys that they almost felt like they
were their children. They spent hours building,
sewing, and painting their toys until they were
just right.

They loved their toys so much that they would give
them all names. There was Sebastian the Tin Soldier,
Rory the Robot, Edward "Eddie" Bear, and Princess
Prudence. They also had a little bear that they found
when they first moved into the store. They decided to
call him "Lucky."

The Toy Shoppe didn't have one visitor all day so Ollie
decided to close up early. Things had really slowed down to
the point where they would go a whole week without getting
one customer. It looked like it would be t lime to close the
store forever.
