I used to love Christmas but for some reason, I just 

wasn't excited about it this year. I don't know why but 

thinking about it made me sad. The thought of opening 

gifts on Christmas morning didn't seem as exciting this 

year.

Even though the tree was nicely 

decorated, the house smelled of 

cinnamon and pretty lights lit up 

the tree, I wasn't in the mood for 

Christmas.

On Christmas Eve, my family 

would go to my Grandma's house 

for dinner. She was such a good 

cook and we all ended up eating 

too much. She spoiled my sister 

and I with tons of gifts. I briefly 

found myself smiling before I 

started feeling sad again.

As I started getting ready for 

bed, I heard a loud crash 

outside. I ran down the stairs 

to investigate. My sister saw me 

and asked, "What was that 

Palmer?" "It's nothing. Now go 

back to bed."

When I got outside I was shocked to see 

a deer. But not just any deer, it was a 

reindeer! The poor guy was scared and 

looked a little dazed. I had my sister open 

the back door as I brought him inside.

The reindeer was so excited that he began 

to run around my room. He jumped up on 

my bed and made all kinds of noise. I could 

hear my Dad getting out of bed. I couldn't 

let him find the reindeer. I had to act fast.

"What's going on in there?" my Dad called out. 

"Peaches and I couldn't sleep so we decided to clean 

my room." "Save it for tomorrow. It's late and if you 

don't get to bed soon, Santa won't visit tonight."
