"Do we have to leave?   I don't 

want to.   I want to stay right 

here"   said Leora 

"We have to leave.   Your dad 

has a job in California.

So let's get going.   California is 

a long way from Maine."   said 

Leora's    

good 

bye

mom.   So Leora said 

goodbye to her house and 

got into the car.       

     Leora turned on the T.V. 

and Leora, her dad, mom, 

Jess, and Ashley all got 

into the car.

     Five days later, they got 

out of the car, went into the 

new house and they were 

surprised that it was a great 

big house.  

     Their mom registered 

them at Elmwood      

Elementary School.

     The next day, they 

went to school.   When the 

teacher told the class that 

Leora was a new student, 

most of the kids looked 

happy and clapped.   One 

person didn't. Leora 

wondered why.

     When it was 

lunchtime, most people 

got to know her.   One 

person

"He is a 

bully"

didn't.   It was Big Billy.

     The next day Leora 

asked one of her friends 

on the bus who Big Billy 

was.   Her friend said that 

he was a bully. 

Will he bother 

me?

That's when Leora started 

shivering and shaking.  

In her old school she 

didn't have a bully.   She 

sat there wondering if he 

was going to bother her.
