Everyday on his way to and from school, Joey would run into a group of bullies. They'd call him "Four Eyes" because he wore glasses. They'd knock the books out of his hands and steal his baseball cap. But Joey never fought back.

When he got home from school, Joey would head upstairs and spend hours reading or working on his homework. He was very skinny, quiet, shy, and soft-spoken. He was happiest when he was all alone with his books and ideas much to his father's dismay.

Joey always felt like a disappointment to his Dad. Dr. Stevenson Hekyll loved sports while Joey was clumsy. He was outgoing while Joey was afraid of his own shadow. But Joey's Dad loved his boy and didn't like to see him so miserable.

One day Joey's Dad decided to buy his son a science kit. Joey was so excited that he immediately put everything together and started doing experiments. "Hope you enjoy your science kit Joey. Just don't blow up the house." "I won't Dad" Joey laughed, "And thank you so much!"

Even though he had school the next morning, Joey kept on working into the night. The chemicals were harmless, mostly powder and water, but it was fun to mix them together. But Joey wanted something more than fancy looking water. "Joey! Time for bed!" his Dad yelled. Joey put the science kit away. He was so tired by then that he fell asleep on the floor.

"Good morning Louis" Joey said as he snuggled his cat. He was still dressed in the lab coat that came with his science kit. All he could think about was what experiment he was going to try next. He looked around for his glasses but couldn't find them. Joey's vision wasn't very good. He reached for a can of cola but ended up drinking from a test tube instead.

"Yuck! I accidentally drank some chemicals. It tastes worse than brussel sprouts!" Joey shouted. Then suddenly he started to feel a little queasy and dizzy. The room began spinning around him. He needed to sit down but ended up passing out on the floor.

When Joey woke up he felt different. He felt powerful and confident. He had super strength and felt like he could do anything he wanted. And that's just what he planned to do. He wasn't Joey Hekyll anymore. No, he was Mr. Hide! "HA! HA! HA!"

Knock! Knock! "Is everything okay in there Joey?" asked his Dad. That overwhelming feeling started to leave Mr. Hide as he slowly began turning back into Joey. "Ow! My poor brain." "Yeah Dad. Just cleaning my room." "You can do that later. Let's go for ice cream!"

"So how are you enjoying that science kit Joey?" "I love it Dad! I have so many experiments I want to try." "Fantastic!" Joey's happiness was short-lived though as he heard some unwelcome voices that he recognized.

"Hey there Joey!" Eddie called out. "Make sure to bring something good for lunch tomorrow or else! We're tired of peanut butter sandwiches. Got it?" Joey's Dad approached the boys. "Oh hello Dr. Hekyll. Joseph and I were just talking about his love of science. Have a great day sir"

Joey was silent during the drive home, as he stared out the window and sighed. He kept thinking about those bullies and how he could get back at them. And then it hit him. He wouldn't deal with them but he knew somebody who would......Mr. Hide!

Joey Hekyll is a skinny shy kid who is bullied every day. He loves reading and science so his Dad buys him a science kit one day. Joey accidentally drinks from a test tube and transforms into a stronger, tougher character called Mr. Hide. Joey likes being Mr. Hide and decides to drink more of the chemicals to help him fight the bullies. But things don't go according to plan.
