After Max and Chris arrived in Whoville from the great getaway, Chris discovered that Max who snuck in the car for the drive and he ran. There would be no witnesses or he just didn’t like Max. Chris was slower than Max so he resorted to something that previously failed. Driving a car. Chris thought he could succeed but he also thought cat’s could drive. Chris crashed the car which is no surprise. He went right through the wall of the shopping mall and was arrested shortly after. At this point Max didn't care if he tried to escape, he wanted his friend back.

Max had no clue what to do, his friend was in prison and most of his time was spent on an isolated mountain with an insane green maniac. The Grinch. He lives on Mount Crumpet overlooking Whoville. Max could enrol the help of Grinch but that could be suicide. He hasn't seen him since the night they stole Christmas.

Against his own instincts Max went to recruit the Grinch. Up the treacherous journey he remembered all the horrible, horrible memory's. The whipping as he pulled the slay, and that distinctive voice yelling
¨March, March, March,¨
but he couldn't give up now Max needed a friend and Chris was his only one.

Surprised by the offer the Grinch instantly agreed, Max was worried. He never saw the Grinch willingly help another living thing. He also seemed happy, again this was a very unusual he was never an occurence when they stayed together
