The Battle at Lexington and Concord
Thomas Gage, a British soldier, was sent to destroy the ammunition and artillery of the American colonists.
The Colonists already knew that their weapons were in danger so they hid them in a secret place before the British could take them.

To prepare for the British troops Paul Revere and William Dawes rode to Concord to warn the colonists.
By morning 70 men had been assembled to fight against the British.

When the British arrived in Lexington someone fired a shot which is known as the "Shot Heard Around the World"

The Battle of Trenton
In the year 1776, the colonists had a lot of causalities and their morale was low.
The Continental Army (American soldiers), lead by George Washington were forced to go into Pennsylvania. On the opposite side of the Delaware River, in Trenton, NJ there were Hessian soldiers (German soldiers)
