After graduating high school, my grandfather James was looking for something to do with his life

His father, having previously served in the navy him self, encouraged James to follow in his footsteps.

"The navy made me into the man I am today."

After receiving his call to go to boot camp, James said goodbye to his parents, who were sad to see their youngest go leave.

"We will miss you James"

He looked in awe at the enormous building that laid before, he had been sent to The Naval Station Great Lakes in Chicago, Illinois. James was accompanied by bill, his high school friend.

"I wonder if I can do this."

"Don't worry James we can do it."

James and his friend Bill were yelled at everyday by their drill sergeant, Mr. Frank

"James straighten up and DON'T LOCK YOUR KNEES!"

The physical exercise was extremely strenuous, it made gym look like a walk in the park

I think I'm going to pass out

He was woken up everyday at the crack of dawn for either a surprise inspection or to march until the sun comes up.

"ATTENTION LADIES"

"Sir, yes sir"

James and Bill's suffering wasn't all for nothing because as it just so happens graduation from boot camp was just around the corner

If you maggots keep marching like that, we will be out here all day.
