A - Apple
Apples are a fruit. Apples are a good source of the vitamins A and C, potassium, and (also a high source of) fiber. One average-sized apple contains no sodium and is only about 80 calories. Apples are great in salads and as a to go snack. You want to try to avoid bruises with this fruit.

There are thousands of different kinds of apples.

B - Broccoli
Broccoli is a vegetable. But like apples, broccoli is a great source for vitamins A and C too! It can be served cold or cooked and is nutritious either way. Some believe that cruciferous vegetables, like broccoli, may reduce the risk of colon cancer.

Carrots are a vegetable; They are considered a root vegetable. Carrots are perhaps best known for their rich supply of the antioxidant nutrient that was actually named for them: beta-carotene. Carrots are also known for benefits in Cardiovascular and eye health.

D - Dragonfruit
Dragonfruit is a type of fruit and is low in cholesterol. Dragonfruit is a source of vitamin C and fiber. It also contains natural antioxidants to help prevent cancers and other health impairments. Dragonfruit is much safer to eat than using pills for antioxidants.

Dragonfruit is also known as pitaya.

E - Eggplant
Eggplants grow much like tomatoes, hanging from the vines of a plant that grows several feet in height and is a fruit. Eggplant is also available in a variety of other colors including lavender, jade green, orange, and yellow-white, as well as in sizes and shapes from that of a small tomato to a large zucchini. Eggplant did not always have a good reputation in food culture that it does today.

Because of its very bitter taste of the early varieties, it seems that people also felt that it had a reputation of being able to cause insanity, leprosy and cancer.

F - Fig

Figs are a fruit that can help lower high blood pressure because of its good source of potassium - which is what helps to lower high blood pressure. Figs are great for losing weight as well; it is a source of fiber and helps to have a healthy weight loss. Figs have also been studied and found to protect against macular degeneration and postmenopausal breast cancer; and, fig leaves can possibly lower needed insulin in diabetics.

G - Grapefruit
Grapefruit are fruits rich in vitamin C. Grapefruit juice has had a higher rank in antioxidants versus other juices - such as cranberry juices, grape juices, pomegranate juices, orange juices, etc. Its juice also helps prevent kidney stones by drinking 1/2 liter - 1 liter. Some believe that grapefruit helps protects people against lung and colon cancer.

H - Honeydew Melon
Honeydew melon is a member of the cantaloupe family and is a fruit. This type of fruit likes to stay cool but not chilled. It is a good source of vitamin C and also has potassium and fiber. It has no fat or cholesterol. Honeydew melons are also one of the very few melons that can continue to ripen after it has been picked.

I - Iceberg Lettuce
Iceberg lettuce is a vegetable with a high source of vitamin K. It contains vitamin A and is low in sodium as well. Many people eat salads with iceberg lettuce when on a diet because of its low calorie count. It is not just used for salads though; iceberg lettuce can also be used on tacos, burgers, or side dishes.

J - Jalapeno
Jalapenos are only one type of pepper, which is a vegetable. Fresh jalapeno peppers are rich in vitamin C. Jalapenos characteristically contain more pyridoxine, vitamin E, vitamin K than many other varieties of peppers. Vitamin K increases bone mass by promoting osteotropic activity in the bones. It may be beneficial in Alzheimer's disease patients as well because it can limit neuronal damage in their brain.

K - Kiwi
Kiwi is a wonderful fruit with terrific nutrition. It has no sodium or cholesterol and little fat. It is an excellent source for vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. Kiwi is available year around; plus, it is great in smoothies, individually, with entrees, and desserts. It also can be used as a meat tenderizer.

L - Lemon
Lemons are a bright yellow fruit. They are a great source of vitamin C. Vitamin C is also vital to the function of a strong immune system. The immune system's main goal is to protect you from illness, so some extra vitamin C could go a long way to help prevent conditions like colds, flus, and recurrent ear infections. The consumption of vegetables and fruits, high in vitamin C, is associated with a reduced risk of death from all causes including heart disease, stroke and cancer.

M - Mushrooms
Mushrooms are a vegetable that are a good source of vitamin D. Some say that mushrooms help with weight management because they are filling and low in sodium. They may also help prevent tumor growth and help protect the body's cells and immune system. Not all mushrooms can be eaten - some are toxic when eaten.

N - Nopal
Nopals, also known as prickly pears, are a type of fruit. It has been used in Sicily folk medicine for years to treat gastric ulcers. Italian scientists pre-treated laboratory animals with nopal before inducing gastric ulcers and found that the pre-treatment provided a protective action against the ulcers. It has also been found in some studies that nopal helps reduce inflammation.

O - Orange
Oranges are a type of fruit and also happen to be the same color as its name. It is another citrus fruit high in vitamin C. Oranges are low in calories and have no cholesterol. This fruit also has good levels of vitamin A as well. Oranges are great for breakfast and lunch.

P - Potato
Potatoes are a vegetable and is high in the vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 helps build cells, helps brain cell and nervous system activity, and gives cardiovascular protection. Potatoes also allow for the chance to lower high blood pressure.

Q - Quince
Quinces are a low calorie fruit. Ripe fruit has a good concentration of vitamin C. There are compounds found in quinces that help prevent inflammatory bowel disease, cancers, and diverticulitis. This fruit can help reduce body weight too.
