Every Saturday morning my friends and I play "Cops and Robbers." We shoot at each other with water guns. It's so much fun. My Uncle Duke is a policeman and he's a really cool guy. After lunch we usually go swimming at my friend Stan's house. While we were playing we heard some police sirens blaring. The sound seemed to be getting closer and closer.

My friends and I hid behind some trees as we watched the police chasing a bad guy. Suddenly both cars crashed into a rock. The bad guy got out and started to run. One of the officers had been hurt. The other policeman started to run after the bad guy. Hey! It's my Uncle Duke! "Hi Uncle Duke!" I yelled. "Shhhh!" he responded. "Oh no! I forgot my new bike. I'll catch up to you later dudes."

The bad guy tripped over my bike and landed on the ground. My Uncle Duke put him in handcuffs as another officer loaded him into a police van. Uncle Duke's partner crawled towards us before he fainted. He was in a lot of pain. An ambulance came and took him and my uncle to the hospital before he could scold me for getting in the way.

METROCITY HOSPITAL

"Well, another good job by the local police force, right Sarge?" "Are you kidding me Callahan? Your partner's going to be out of action for a while and that's the tenth police car you've wrecked in the past year. I want you in my office tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. sharp. We really need to talk about your future." "Yes sir" Uncle Duke meekly replied.

METRO CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT

The next morning Duke entered Sarge's office expecting bad news. "I really should fire you Duke. You're not a good cop, every one of your partners has been hurt, and you've cost us thousands of dollars from all the cars you've crashed. But I'll give you one more chance. Since nobody wanted to be your partner, I had to go outside the office to find someone. Ah, here he is now."

"Hi Uncle Duke!" "Robin? No! He's only 8 years old! He can't be a cop. Besides there's no way my sister would say yes to this." "Lighten up Duke. His Mom signed a permission slip so the police station is covered" Sarge replied. "And where'd he get that badge?" "Box of Fruit Loops" I answered. "Now let's go catch some bad guys!" "Ugh! I'm getting too old for this stuff."

"It sure must be exciting working as a policeman and catching criminals." "I guess so." "What's wrong Uncle Duke?" "I don't really like it. I only became a policeman to make my Dad happy. I'd rather be a carpenter." There was a real sadness in his voice. We then heard an alert from the car radio: "Calling all officers, we have a bank robbery in progress at the Metro City Bank!"

Uncle Duke is not a very good officer. He never really wanted to be a cop. His nephew Robin has always looked up to his uncle and due to some crazy circumstances, he ends up becoming his uncle's partner as they patrol the streets.
