He was born into a financially struggling family in Scotland...
Who would have known he would become one of the richest men in America.

This is Andrew. He was a motivated, dedicated man... well boy at the moment. Andrew was decisive and had an open mind for opinions. It was no surprise he was so revolutionary.

At age 13, Andrew, his parents, and his younger brother immigrated to America, seeking a better life.
Andrew had very little formal education, going straight into the workforce when arriving America.

Andrew started working on the railroad, trying to help his family get money. In 1859, he was promoted to superintendent of the Pennsylvania Railroad's western division.
2 years later, the Civil War started, fueled by the iron industry. Andrew began to see the potential of the steel, iron, and oil industry.

Andrew decided to quit his job at the railroad, dedicating himself to the steel industry after the war.
He built steel plants all throughout the country,
revolutionizing steel production.
Andrew used methods that made steel production easier, faster, and more productive.
