Hello, my name is Joanne Kathleen Rowling, but I prefer J.K. Rowling. This book is to show my life and how I became who I am today.

I was born on July 31, 1965, in Yate, United Kingdom. My moms name was Anne, my dads name was Peter and my sisters name was Diane.

When I was a kid, I knew I was destined to be writer.

When I finished grade school, I decided to go to Exeter College to learn French.

After college, I decided to go to Portugal to teach kids English.

While I was in Portugal, I decided to marry a man named Jorge Arantes
After we had a kid, I decided things with me and Jorge weren't going great so we split up and I moved Scotland with my new daughter.

When Jessica Arantes, my daughter, came into my life, I knew I needed some way to financially support me and her.

One thing I decided to do was write a book. I started writing my book in a nearby cafe using an old type writer.

At this time, I abbreviated my name to J.K. Rowling so people take me for a male because at this time period, men dominated literature.
