Here we are. In ancient Rome, around 300 B.C. Rome was a very powerful empire. They had an incredible army which contributed to Rome’s great amount of land. Not only did Rome have the most powerful army in the world, they had different inventions. One is called the aqueduct, which is a big device designed to bring water into and out of Rome. All these new inventions made Rome a great place to live in during its time of power.

Although Rome was a very nice place to live at the time, the empire was starting to break into civil war. Their conquered empires like the Italians were getting unhappy being ruled so they started to rebel. Rome was able to stop it but other people rebelled and Rome was becoming chaos. Even some of the Romans were getting unhappy and started to complain. Rome was becoming a mess.

One day though, in the middle of all this corruption, a person named Julius Caesar was born. Caesar was born into a very wealthy family, his parents were very powerful, and his uncle was even a council, which was one of the two people that ruled Rome. As Caesar grew up, his family was teaching him and telling him that he was eventually going to be a very powerful person and one of the most important in Rome.

Caesar was studying a lot during school. He was learning about politics from his family, and was getting very good at them. At one point Caesar even served as a soldier in the Roman army. He also wanted to get powerful, so he was doing all kinds of things to build up popularity. Caesar also started public speaking so he could get comfortable with it.

Eventually, when Caesar was around 25 years old, he was sailing on the sea. He saw pirates, and he tried to get away but their ship was faster. Caesar was taken for ransom, but his family payed the money. Once Caesar returned, he decided to get rid of the pirates. So he used his status to get military ships and attacked. Caesar won, and now people could safely sail. Caesar was building up popularity.

Soon Caesar ran for consul of Rome. He was assisted by his wealthy friends and political allies. The senate though was getting very worried with Caesar’s growing power, so they did absolutely everything they could to stop Caesar from getting elected consul. Happily for Caesar he still got elected consul. Caesar and his two friends, Pompey the Great and Crassus, became the first triumvirate.
