There once was a magic guinea pig. His name was Paws.
Paws lived with a tortoise named Shelly, and they were best friends.

One day, Shelly came home from track tryouts crying. "Even when I tried to run fast, I'm still slow!" Shelly sobbed, "I wish I could run fast!"
"I can use my magic on you, but you must see me once each day to keep the spell going." Offered Paws.

"Yes Please!" Cried Shelly. "Please make your spell!"
"Okay, Shelly. Get ready..."
Paws said.

As magic danced across Paws fur, he chanted:
"Shelly is not at all that fast,
Make that slow run the very last!"
"It's working!" Cried Shelly. "I can feel it!"

When the spell was done, Paws Said
"Try running, Shelly!"

"I need to go to a running contest! I am sure to win."Shelly said.
"Okay!" said Paws "I will support you, but only if you try hard."

After two months of running, Shelly was ready for the last race before the final contest. Shelly got ready at the starting line.
"Ready... Set... GO!"

Shelly ran hard. She ran past Bone (the dog), and Cheese (the mouse).
"Almost... There...! " Shelly wheezed. Then she made it across the finish line.
"Yippee!" Cried Paws "You won!"

Shelly was ready for the big race but the race was in Australia, so Paws could not come.
Paws said" Goodbye, Shelly! Good luck!"

When Shelly got to Australia, she realized that she won't be seeing Paws the day of the race! Shelly was devastated.
