Keeping fish as pets can be a whole lot of fun. But to keep your fishy friends healthy and happy, it takes a lot of work!

The number of fishy friends you can keep in your aquarium depends on how many gallons of water it holds. You only want 1 inch of fish for every 1 gallon of water in your fish tank.

Our fishy friends love clean water! Every week we should do a 25% water change. This means that we take out 1/4 of the water in the aquarium, and then we add another 1/4 of clean water to the tank.

Be careful when adding water! If you use tap water, you need to dechlorinate it first. Follow the instructions on your dechlorinator, but you usually pour one capful per 10 gallons of water.

When you feed your fishy friends. only give them enough food that it is gone after 2 minutes. If there is any extra food, try to get it out of the aquarium; overfeeding your fish can make them sick, and uneaten food can make the water dirty.
