Bubbie and I fought in the army.

Bubbie got wounded in the arm,

I got wounded in the leg.

It happened like this:

Bubbie was on a battlefield. A German shot him in the arm with an AK37 machine gun.

Bubbie was in the hospital. I sat in a chair beside him when a cry of "German bomber!" came beside me. I shot out of my seat. The bomb blew up as I was running out of the tent. It did not get close to the tent, but some shrapnel hit me in the leg.

I was in the bed beside Bubbie in the tent. I heard a shot outside the tent. I got up on my crutches and went out to see what was going on outside. I saw a German, dead on the ground.

The tent blew in pieces! The cry of, "AA GUNS ON BATTLESHIPS!" woke Bubbie up. Shaking himself out of his sleep he went out of the damaged tent and asked a soldier, "What's the matter?"

"30MM CANNONS are firing all around us. There's a Japanese heavy bomber coming."

"What?" Bubbie responded. "Which ship?"

"A light-cruiser is coming, sir, sent by General Yamato. You'd better take cover."

Bubbie ran over to me and said, "Let's go to the bunker, Josiah." I followed Bubbie to the safety of the island bunker just in time. A large explosion blew dirt in the door behind us. We hit the floor, our injuries screaming in pain, but we were thankful for our lives.
