"Okay Bram, time for school!" "I can't go to school today! I'm sick! I have laryngitis!" "If you had laryngitis you wouldn't be able to speak!" my Mom said. "I need a list of better fake illnesses" I mumbled to myself. I was starting school in a new city. We had moved back to my Dad's hometown because he thought I'd like it here.

My new school was located in the middle of a creepy forest. When the bus picked me up at 8 o'clock in the morning, it was pitch black all around us. I didn't know anybody at all and felt so uncomfortable. They all looked and acted the same and I really stuck out. All of the other kids knew each other and I felt out of place so I just sat there quietly.

MATHEMATICS WITH MR. TUT

6
The school was a creepy looking old building. I got lost a couple of times trying to find my locker. The bell rang just as I made it just in time for math class. There was something wrong with my math teacher. They said he was from Egypt but I couldn't understand a word he was saying. "MMMMMM!" Huh? Oh boy was I ever lost!

SCIENCE CLASS WITH DR. FRANK N. STEIN
TEACHING ASSISTANT: IGOR

8
I was never good at math to begin with but this Grade Four stuff was impossible. Thankfully the class ended and it was time for Science. I enjoyed looking at all of the beakers and microscopes around us. I hope we get to do some experiments. My teacher was an older man named Dr. Stein and he had an assistant named Igor. No last name, just Igor.

"Puttin' on the Ritz!"

10
We talked about atoms and molecules. Maybe my day won't be as bad after all. Then things got weird. Really weird. Igor wheeled out a tiny cactus covered by a white sheet and set it up in the middle of the classroom. Two big bolts of lightning hit the cactus and it began to move. "It's Alive!" Mr. Stein declared. "What the heck was that?" Geez this school is strange!

Finally it was lunchtime, I think. The clocks in the school didn't work and there didn't seem to be any windows. I decided to use this time to find my locker. I saw a giant man with a broom so I asked him for directions. "Are you the janitor?" "Yeah, Yeah, Janitor!" "Right. Do you know where the lockers are?" "Yeah, Yeah, locker" he laughed as he guided me down some stairs.

TODAY'S SPECIAL:
BUGS ON A BUN WITH YOUR CHOICE OF SOUP

14
I only had a few minutes so I ran up to the cafeteria. "Hello my pretty! What can I get you? Eye of newt? Tongue of lizard?" "Yuck! No thanks. Do you have anything that's not gross ?" She glanced up at me with an angry face and said, "I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog too?" What dog? Eww! It's a rat! I tried playing sick so I could go home but nobody answered the phone.

16
I ended up having a granola bar and juice box that I had brought in my backpack. Gym class was next and I could only imagine what that would be like. Much to my surprise, I saw a regular looking teacher holding a basketball. "Good afternoon. My name is Mr. Wolfe. Who wants to shoot some hoops?"
