Summary
My classmate Claudette and I are second year students in the BscN program at University of Ontario Institute of Technology. In 2015, in the city of Aleppo in Syria, there is a constant stream of trauma victims, and infectious diseases are common due to the civil war in Syria. These are some of the difficulties facing medical staff who are trying to meet the needs of the affected citizens (Sahloul et al, 2016).Claudette and I received a letter from Florence nightingale requesting medical volunteer to provide care in a Syrian refugee camp. We arrived at the refugee camp and saw that a large population of people were living in a small unhyginic building.
We decided to call Roy, Watson, Paplau and Lininger to guide our practice. Claudette accompanied Watson and I decided to follow Paplau and Roy to provide care. there are three parts of this story.
The first part focuses on how Paplau and I helped refugee chidlren Amena and Firaz who lost their family in the civil war to meet their primary need through the orientation, working and resoluation phase. In the end , Amena and Firaz were send to their uncle Al Rahim in Iraq.

According to Peplau , mutual respect between the nurse and the patient is an important part of the therapeutic process . I introduced my self to Firaz and Amena. I sat beside them and let them talk about their feelings of grief. I noticed their facial and non-verbal clues. During our conversion, I noticed that they were being comfortable to share their feelings with me. My motive was to establish trust and respect. I created a healing environment by talking and listening to them, using therapeutic touch to create a caring moment thereby establishing interpersonal relationships. As a nurse , my roll is to provides an environment where patients assume responsibility for reaching their treatment goals and therefore optimal functioning (Graham,2006).
Orientation stage
After out first interview, Peplau and I were able to established interpersonal relationship with Firaz and Amena. We determine the following needs.
Emotional support
Nutritional support
Sleep and rest
Health status
Coping ability

Working phase
Firaz and Amena were willing to co-operative with me and Peplau. They decided to join a memory therapy session where they met other children and shared stories of their lives. This therapy helps to improve social skills as well as coping ability. Moreover, Firaz and Amena also volunteered in cooking session to help and prepare food . The cooking session helped them to prepared food of their choice and improved their nutritional status. Furthermore, they also joined music and singing therapy session with me and Peplau to distract their mind, promote positive thinking and improve sleep patterns.
Resolution stage
Firaz and Amena enjoyed their cooking class and story sharing. They made some more friends and learned to cook multinational food. They were able to restore their health status, coping ability and sleep pattern.
I found out about their uncle Al Rahim, who was living in Baghdad city in Iraq. Peplau and I were able to talk to him and ask his willingness to help Firaz and Amena. Uncle Al Rahim stated that " he would be happy to have Firaz and Amena with him in Baghdad".
I inform Amena about his uncle Al Rahim and made an arrangement for Firaz and his sister to fly to Baghdad;Iraq.

Firaz and Amena waved final good bye to me and their friends and left for Iraq. They left the following message for us
To Pepleau and Rinku:
"Thanks for planting the seeds of faith and hope."

Summary of part 2
I accompanied Roy to look after older couple Mr. and Mrs. Abadi . They were infected by a contagious diseases known as Leishmanisis . Mr. and Mrs Abadi were relying on medical staff to restore their health. My story explains briefly how I helped the Abadis to bring their life back to normal by using ROY Adaptation Model. Finally, we were able to restore Mr. and Mrs Abadi's physical and psychological health.
Syrian civil war has spread this deadly diseases called Leishmanisis across the nation. Leishmaniasis is caused by a protozoan parasite through vector borne and transmitted to humans by the bite of a sand fly; the disease is not life threatening but it creates disfiguation and stigma especially in woman (WHO, 2016). Mr. and Mrs Abadi are one of the couple who have been infected. They had no family support and they were dependent on medical staff to reestablish their health. I worked with Roy to created a care plan for the Abadis to meet their needs. Additionally, Roy Adaption Model was very useful to create a care plan.
Roy and I introduced ourselves to Mr. and Mrs Abadi.

"Hello, I am Roy and this is my partner Rinku. we are here to help you to improve your health status." Roy Said to the Abadis.
Mrs Abadi: "Nice to meet both of you."
Mr. Abadi: "We appreciate your and your partner's help."

Roy describes the human being as a creature who are required to adopt to environment. Roy Adaption Model processes in a sequence from environmental stimuli, coping process and Adaptation modes ((Janelli, 1980). Environmental stimuli include Focal, Contextual and Residual Stimuli. The Focal stimuli are internal or external factors those need immediate attention or possibly can cause fetal damage to individual. Next, Contextual stimuli are considered as the rest of the stimuli that present with the focal stimuli, and contribute to its effect. Residual stimuli are unconscious factors that may be affecting the individual or group. Environmental Stimuli are directly related to a coping processes which can divide into regulator and cogitator mechanism (((Janelli, 1980).
The regulator mechanism that encompasses basic neural, chemical and endocrine channels and cognator subsystem is a mental coping of an individual (Janelli, 1980).
Finally, Roy identified four modes of adaptation, which are physiological mode that focuses on biological need. Secondly, Self-concept mode of adaptation incorporates individual's feelings about their bodies and personal selves (Janelli, 1980). Thirdly, the interdependence mode of adaptation explains the important of social support. Finally, role function mode emphases roles that a person occupies in society, and knowing where he or she stands as a member of society.

Residential
Weak immune system
Eating pattern
Coping behavior
Focal
Infection
Malnutrition
Insomnia
Contextual
Spreading of virus from human to human
Lack of food supply and financial support
Stress and anxiety
Last part of the model focuses on Adaption modes where nurses develop intervention to help the client. Roy and I determine the following adaption modes to improve the health status for the Abadis.
