Once there was a penguin named 

Kazoo. 

Kazoo lived in the North Pole where 

he went to school at IceRidge 

Elementary School. 

Miss Mazy was Kazoo's teacher. Today 

she said, "Class I want you to pick one 

thing that you love and dream about. 

And, I want you to describe it in one 

paragraph. You have twenty minutes."                                                                        

"Uh-Oh," Kazoo thought to himself. "I have so 

many dreams! How am I going to pick one?"  

As the clocked tick-tocked the time on 

the classroom wall, Kazoo found his 

imagination zooming off with his 

dreams. 

First, his imagination took him to a 

place where he had a pirate patch over 

one eye and a chest of golden treasure 

beside him. 

But, then somehow, Kazoo fell out of 

his pirate ship and saw it sailing off 

without him. Quickly, Kazoo jumped 

onto a small row boat and rowed 

toward another dream.

So, Kazoo zoomed off toward the big city where 

he could walk beside the big, tall   buildings and 

eat lots of strawberry ice cream.

But, as Kazoo was eating his ice 

cream, a green truck suddenly flew

by, making Kazoo drop his yummy treat.

Kazoo's mind flew around until he 

imagined he was in a big colorful 

balloon, sailing through the clouds. 

He stayed there for awhile, until a 

big bird came and popped his 

rainbow colored balloon. 

After that dream, Kazoo found 

himself in his classroom, feeling 

very sad. All his dreams were gone 

and he couldn't think of anything to 

write about. 

Then, Kazoo looked up to find his 

teacher, Miss Mazy looking down at 

him. 

"Kazoo, Have you come up 

something you'd like to write 

about?" asked Miss Mazy.

Kazoo looked sad as he shook his head. 

"Miss Mazy, I have so many ideas, but 

they all fly away so fast, I just can't 

decide what to write about. " 

Miss Mazy looked thoughtful, and 

walked quickly back to her desk.

When she came back she handed 

Kazoo a pen.  

Kazoo, I want you to dream about many, 

many things as you learn and grow. But, 

mostly I want you to create one good 

dream that you can hold onto. 

"But, how can I do that with so many 

ideas that just fly away in my head?" 

asked Kazoo

"With patience, said Miss Mazy, looking at the 

clock. For the next five minutes, think about 

one thing that you love. It can be something 

at your house, or something at school. When, 

you've thought about that thing for 5 

minutes, write it down." 

"Okay." Kazoo said not too hopeful. 

The clocked ticked slowly as Kazoo tried 

to think about something he loved.
