Hello, I'm Ivy. Today is my last day in Canada for 2 whole weeks!! I'm going on vacation to Africa!!

Wow!! Africa is so beautiful, but I cant swim in the water because its so dirty, I wonder how they drink?

Africa doesn't have tap water like you and me, they use wells. Wells are shafts in the ground that pump water, usually out of an aquifer, which is a layer of rock that holds a lot of water.

Not all of the communities have wells, usually the girls have to walk 3 or more hours to get water from the river. But the water isn't even clean!

Since girls have to walk all day carrying dirty water, they can't go to school!! Imagine if you couldn't go to school because you had to carry water all day in the hot sun.

The water that people drink here is dirty with chemicals in them, you can get diseases like schistosomiasis and trachoma from drinking these chemicals. You can even die.

I'm back in Canada!! I've been doing research on countries without clean water and I found out that Africa isn't the only one! India , Southeast Asia and Latin America also don't have clean water.
