To my quad-mate, Emma.

In our wonderful galaxy, the Milky Way galaxy, there are plenty of planets that house many different resources. The Earth, one of the planets in the Milky Way galaxy, is home to many of these resources. On Earth, a lot of things are changing: the weather, the leaves, and also rocks!
To explore Earth, and the different changing resources on this planet, we have recruited Sediment to take us on a tour.

Welcome to Earth and all its beautiful resources! I'm here to show you around this beautiful place I call my home. We'll even get to know my friends, too.

I don't think I introduced myself properly. I am sediment. There are many sedimentary rocks that have a different texture than me, but we are all still classified as sedimentary.

On our first stop we are going to meet Igneous. Hi Igneous!
Hi Sediment. It's a beautiful day out here right?

You've definitely got that right! I have a group of kids who wanted me to take them on a tour of Earth and learn about the different resources here.

You sure picked the right time to come. I was just about to take a walk around. Come tag along!

Igneous rocks, rocks that have similar qualities that I have, can either form under the Earth's surface or above.

Igneous rocks that form under the Earth's surface, or the crust, are the result of magma that erupted. This magma cooled very slowly. These types of igneous rocks have course grained texture that can be seen with your eyes.
These are called intrusive igneous rocks

On the other hand, igneous rocks that form above the Earth's surface form because of the magma pouring onto the surface. This magma cools very quickly and doesn't have a course grained texture that people can see with their eyes.
These are called extrusive igneous rocks

Igneous rocks are formed from other types of rocks. These are called metamorphic and even sedimentary rocks themselves. I actually think I see Metamorphic.

Hi Igneous. What are you up to today?
Hi Metamorphic!

Just enjoying this beautiful day by taking a walk and leading a tour of Earth!
Sounds adventurous! May I introduce myself? My name is Metamorphic

Metamorphic rocks, rocks just like me, form underneath the Earth's surface. It takes a lot of pressure and heat for the rock to change into a metamorphic rock.
