The mouth is where the process of digestion starts. It is very useful and does many things. The mouth allows you to taste your food with your tongue and the teeth in your mouth allow you to chew up the food so it will be easier to swallow. Also, the saliva, or spit, in your mouths helps to start breaking down the food so it can be absorbed and used by your body.
The esophagus has one very important task. It's job is to carry the food and liquid that we eat and drink from our mouth to our stomach. Without it food would just float around inside our body and wouldn't go anywhere.
The stomach's job is to gather the needed nutrients and proteins from the food that we eat by further breaking it down. It does this with the help of enzymes and stomach acid.
