On an island far out at sea that no one ever visited, there
lived a band of incredibly ugly monsters.
Some of the monsters swam and other monsters flew.
There were monsters that climbed and monsters that had
magical powers. There were monsters that like to hide and
monsters that like to chase. There were plenty of
monsters all over the place.

But the truth was that, even though the monsters were
incredibly ugly and could do all sorts of strange things,
they were very kind and lived happily together on the
island.
They never used their abilities for evil and had all sorts of
fun doing all sorts of things.

For instance, Gremlin and Genie liked to spend the day
creating magic carpets for their friends.
And Cyclops and Giant were fond of hurling boulders while
Wolfie, Gnome, Mummy, Frank, and Trolly played hide and
Ghost seek whenever they could.

Every day was so much fun, and when the monsters were
done playing on the island, they would all troop back to
their castle and have dinner together.
They loved to eat whatever Dragon and the Queen had
prepared for them and the table was always full of
delicious treats like hamburgers, french fries, soups,
steaks, turkey, and freshly baked bread.

The monsters lived a good life on the island and thought
that no one would ever bother them.
But little did they know that an evil band of pirates was
headed straight for their small island. The pirates had
stolen a map of the island from the Minotaur, who had left
many years ago in search of a mysterious maze of
wonders. Minotaur had created a map to get back home to
his friends when his adventure was done, but he lost it
during a surprise attack by the evil pirates who thought he
had hidden a great treasure of gold, silver, and jewels on
the island.

The pirates had stolen the map from Minotaur by ganging
up on him and tying him up. They hid him in the center of
the mystical maze so that he could not follow them. Then,
they had immediately set sail in search of his treasures.
They vowed that any monsters who stood in the way of
the treasure would simply have to be tied up and thrown
into the sea.

The pirates made their plans as they sailed toward the
island. They were so evil!
They planned to sneak on to the island at night when the
monsters were asleep in their beds and surprise them so
that they would not be able to fight back.
They would then tie the monsters up and make them eat
broccoli until they told the pirates where the Minotaur's
treasure was.
Once their plan was ready, they laughed their evil laughs
all the way to the island.

The pirates got to shore and slowly crept up on the quiet
castle.
When they got there, they broke all the windows, jumped
inside, and scared the sleeping monsters awake.
The monsters tried to fight the pirates, but since they had
no swords and knives to fight with, everyone was quickly
captured. Only the Queen, Genie, and Giant were unable
to be captured and tied up. The Queen and Genie used
their magic to fight and Giant was too big to be caught.

Giant tried the best he could to grab the pirates from the
window and take them outside. The Queen hurled magical
spells at as many pirates as she could find. But despite turning
many of the pirates into lizards, she could not get them all.
They just kept coming.
Genie quickly thought up a plan and poofed over to the Pirate
King where he said, "Finally great Pirate King, you have come
to rescue me from these monsters. If you promise take me
away from these pitiful creatures to sail the seas, I will tell you
where my lamp is and serve you, for you are obviously a
greater leader than the Queen."
And the Pirate King, who had always wanted his very own
genie, went to find the Genie's lamp while the rest of the
pirates continued to fight the Queen.
