It was time. We will be leaving very soon to start our pilgrimage. Since I am the Brother of Mansa Musa, I will be up front with him. I am 35 years old. My name is Suleyman And I am quite nervous for this journey. We are going to travel 600 miles. We do have a lot of gold but I am still nervous. There are going to be 60,000 people on this journey. That is a lot.

I hope we make it. We will be travelling to Walata first and stopping there. I can't wait to see new places. This is a once in a lifetime chance. I really can't wait. I hope the journey starts very soon.

We finally arrived in Walata. And now I can finally sit down under a tree. It has been several days since we left from Niani and we were running out of water. But we got more water here. But now on our next leg we will be traveling through a waterless desert to Taghaza. There is a lot of trade going on here, I am impressed.

The journey so far has been good. Hopefully it will continue to be good, hopefully. I still feel nervous, we still have a lot to go. And I really need to rest up my energy.

We have finally arrive at Taghaza. We had to travel 550 miles to reach here from Walata. Now we have arrived. We are now setting up camp. I am surprised that salt is so popular here. Everyone wanted it. So we got some money. one reason they might want is so they can preserve their food.  Also I hear some people grumbling that there was a faster way but that we were going a longer route.

I think the route we took is interesting and it has been excellent so far. I can't wait to arrive at the Tuwat oasis. I hope we have a fun time. And we don't run out of water and gold. Also hopefully nobody will die
