Eric D. Walrond was born December 8th, 1898 in Georgetown, Guyana.

Eric grew up near Bridgetown, Barbados and attended the St. Stephens Boys School.

Eric's mother was Barbadian.
Eric's father was Guyanese.


In 1911, Eric and his family moved to the U.S.A. controlled Panama-Canal.

As Eric grew up and became old enough to work he worked for the Canal's Health Department because he could speak and understand spanish.



After working for the Health Department, Eric D. Walrond started his writing career as a reporter for the local newspaper, The Panama Star and Herald.


After a while, Eric decided there were bigger and better things in the world for him to do and see. So, in 1918 he moved to Harlem, New York.
