My name is Ruby and it is the first day of school.

I can't wait for recess! I am wearing my fastest shoes.

My new lunch box is packed with all of my favorite treats for lunch time.

The teacher assigns me a seat way in the back of the room next to a girl I don't know yet.

Just then, in front of the whole class, I jump up high and my hands fly up in the air.

The whole class stares at me.

hehehe!

I finally reach my seat.

“Hi. I’m Ruby. What is your name?”

"Why did you jump up like that?"

"Hi Ruby! My name is Eloise!"

"I don’t mean to jump up like that. It is one of my tics right now.”

I feel embarrassed.

"What is a tic? "

"I have Tourette Syndrome. My tics are kind of like a big sneeze.

"Sometimes I can hold them in for a little while but I cant stop it."
