Chapter 1
The History of Tennis

Tennis is a sport played by many people. It is similar to Badminton. Some people play tennis as a competeitve match.

Fun Fact
Did you know that the hardest shot in tennis is the serve? It is hard to get the shot directly in the opposite box of where you are serving from.
In 1874, Walter C. Wingfield patented, in London, the equipment and rules for a game very similar to modern tennis. In the same year, the first tennis courts appeared in the United States.
When you hit a forehand, first you turn to the side with your raquet up, bring it back, drop, and then make sure to hit the ball at waist level. After that, bring the raquet up to the waist, and over your shoulder.
To hit a backhand is the same as hitting a forehand backward, but with two hands. Also a lefty forehand is a backhand, and a lefty backhand is a forehand.
