Persia was a mighty kingdom centered in what is now Iran.
The Persians rose to power in about 550 BC. For about 200 years they ruled a vast empire.
It stretched from the Indus River in Southern Asia to parts of Southern Europe. Egypt,Babylonia,and Assyria were many centuries old. Plateau region south of the Caspian Sea was settled by a nomadic people from grassland.
In approximately 1,000 BC. Although the newcomers called themselves Iran(Aryans)and their new homeland Persia. Persians refers to any series of imperial dynasties centered in Persia.
